Mark Bulkeley

IS A MANAGING DIRECTOR AT DC INVESTMENT PARTNERS, RESPONSIBLE FOR LAUNCHING THE VENTURE PLATFORM. MARK IS ALSO A DIRECTOR AT DC ENERGY, where HE OVERSEES NEW BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT AND HAS EXTENSIVE EXPERIENCE IN THE UTILITY AND TELECOMMUNICATIONS INDUSTRIES.

Mark started his career in the US Navy, serving at a joint Department of Energy / Department of the Navy command, Naval Reactors / Naval Sea Systems Command, where he led both the development of the next generation as well as the maintenance of existing generation of aircraft carrier nuclear components.  To drive efforts to successful outcomes, Mark worked with a diverse range of personnel including National Laboratory scientists (where he spearheaded the construction of a multi-million-dollar test facility to validate field equipment experience) and maintenance teams in shipyards (to implement key inspection and corrective actions, validated in the test facility).

Mark joined Dean & Company in 2001 to focus on strategy consulting in the energy and telecommunications industries, but also gained an array of experience in consumer products.  He gained extensive experience in and understanding of the power plant development process, M&A in the power sector and the fundamental drivers of price formation in wholesale electricity markets.

As a Director at DC Energy, Mark led the creation of three new trading team and strategies including: hub-based forward power trading, inter-market physical electricity trading and over-the-counter trading of forward power basis.  Mark also co-founded and ran Energy Clearing Services, an Exchange self-clearing member, as the Managing Director of Operations.  Additionally, Mark worked with the founding team of Nodal Exchange to develop key aspects of the intellectual property, resulting in the award of a US Patent.  Mark continues to be responsible for new business development at DC Energy.

Mark holds a bachelor degree in Aeronautical Engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute awarded in 1994 and a Masters of Business Administration from the MIT Sloan School of Management with a concentration in Information Technology and Business Transformation, awarded in 2001.  Additionally, Mark successfully completed the Bettis Reactor Engineering School in the fall of 1995.  He routinely seeks to refresh his skills through online learning, including his Coursera certificate in Data Sciences issued in 2016.


FUN FACT: Mark is a tech nerd at heart and went to the trouble of building a Raspberry Pi-based house-wide array of temperature / pressure / humidity sensors in an effort to better understand why his HVAC system was so bad.
