David Kuo

began his career in 1999 as a strategy consultant at Dean & Company, focusing at first on evaluating private equity targets and later branching into the telecommunications sector. His work included launching operations in 5 European countries for a start-up communications provider and developing a business model for providing for in-flight internet for a major airline alliance.

Dave also worked at the Boston Consulting Group where he specialized in the pharmaceutical and biotechnology sectors. His projects included conducting market research on a phase II candidate for rheumatoid arthritis, improving sales force effectiveness for a novel oncology treatment, and streamlining manufacturing processes at a major pharmaceutical firm.

After consulting, Dave joined the team at D. E. Shaw Research where he worked on the development of special-purpose hardware and software to dramatically accelerate molecular dynamics simulations of proteins and other biological macromolecules.

Since 2007, Dave has focused on the investment space, having led a number of trading teams for DC Energy focused mainly in US deregulated geographies including the Northeast and Mid-Atlantic (PJM) markets.

Dave holds a bachelors degree from Harvard University in Biology, where he graduated magna cum laude with highest honors, and an MBA from the MIT Sloan School of Management.

Fun fact: In college, Dave studied Kendo, a Japanese martial art. His experience culminated with a brief duel with the then sitting Japanese Prime Minister (Dave was graciously permitted to "win").
